Literally: Have the green hand
Perfect equivalent: Have the green thumb
This expression doesn’t need any explanation.
For once, the French and the Americans fully agree.
Almost 🙂
See you Monday with the letter N, part of the A to Z challenge!
In UK we say Green Finger! Really enjoying these daily posts, thanks!
That’s funny, isn’t it to witness the slight changes that still hint to the same meaning?
A green hand does sound more capable. I wouldn’t know. Plants, in either language, are not safe in my care.
I do fine with plants:) but the green thumb had always seemed strange to me in comparison to the hand or the finger for British people. See you on Monday:)
Green finger? That sounds weird.
One of my readers just told me that , agreeing it was weird 🙂
And something familiar! 🙂
Hi Evelyne … green fingers – I don’t have them … though my mother did … and as you say they almost tie in don’t they … cheers Hilary
I wish my hand or thumb would be greener too, but I love gardening:)
I would if I had a garden … one day perhaps! Cheers H
