Literally: As jealous as lice

Best equivalent: Green-eyed, green with envy

Do I need to explain more? Anyone who has dealt with lice knows how territorial the parasites can be.

As always, if you know an American English expression that would match the French expression du jour, go for it!

    • Told you! Funny is always a winner, I agree. With three years of French expressions under my belt, I’ve started to sort them according to categories. Sometimes I chuckle as I write them down, something I never did when I “spoke” them. The distance makes them much more interesting. Glad you smiled at the mention of lice 🙂

    I never thought of lice as jealous. I learned something new today.

    Re lice: I wonder if lice problems are more common now than they used to be. I don’t think I ever heard about anyone with lice when I was growing up.
