Literally: one of those fours

Best equivalent: see you around

Depending of the sources, the expression draws its origin from the four limbs, the four seasons or still the four cardinal points.

See you tomorrow for the letter V, part of the A to Z challenge!

A Month of French Authors/Un Mois d’Auteurs Français.

Unless you suggest a contemporary French author or even better two, starting with the letter U, I will showcase the Parisian-based organization UNESCO instead. Without books and people who write them their mission would not be possible, anyway.

The mission of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Education has not changed since its creation in 1945:

“Building Peace in the Minds of Men and Women”

Because white still symbolizes peace

Still located on the Place de Fontenoy (#7) in Paris 7e the organization has now 195 member states and 10 associate members.

I borrowed their statement from their website:

“UNESCO is responsible for coordinating international cooperation in education, science, culture and communication. It strengthens the ties between nations and societies, and mobilizes the wider public so that each child and citizen:

  • has access to quality education; a basic human right and an indispensable prerequisite for sustainable development;
  • may grow and live in a cultural environment rich in diversity and dialogue, where heritage serves as a bridge between generations and peoples;
  • can fully benefit from scientific advances;
  • and can enjoy full freedom of expression; the basis of democracy, development and human dignity.

UNESCO’s messages are of increasing importance today, in a globalized world where interconnections and diversity must serve as opportunities to build peace in the minds of men and women.”
