Writers spend considerable amount of time alone. And it can burn out the most inspired and dedicated among us.
So this is why we, writers, like to gather with fellow writers. In the warmth of our tribe we share our stories, our common passion for words, our struggles, and even – when we are really tired of trying – our temptation to quit.
And once in a while we also celebrate our successes – size doesn’t matter.
Today one of the members of my little tribe received an award for one of her picture books.
Good Fortune in a Wrapping Cloth Written by Joan Schoettler and Illustrated by Jessica Lanan won the Asian/Pacific American Library Award for 2012-2013 in the Picture Book Category.
So tonight, I raise my cup of tea– she loves tea a lot – in my friend’s honor and drink to her Good Fortune.
