2010 Newbery Award

Reading every Newbery Award Winner book is on my list of to do things as is visiting each American National Park.
No need to say I’ve skipped a few on both lists.
The titles of books and covers are like the names of the National Parks or their locations. Some look better and make you want to pick them.
Neither the title nor the cover of the 2010 Newbery Award 2010 match the jewel that is inside.
When you reach me written by Rebecca Stead and first published in 2009 doesn’t fit any genre neither any age range. The main character is twelve year old yet evolves in a world that will interest older readers but also younger advanced readers. Perhaps it is what makes the story so irresistible. Influenced by A Wrinkle in Time from Marguerite L’Engle, it is one of the most unique children’s books I’ve read lately. It is hard to write about it without revealing too much and it would be too bad to do so. Just read the book!
I’m ashamed for having waited so long before picking it up. How true the old saying: don’t judge a book based on its cover.
